200g cake of Spring 2020 raw/sheng ancient tea tree puer from the same tea garden and processed in the same way as previous years.

Like many teas from 2020 this year's Ban Po felt a little unbalanced and aggressive when it had just been made but now, after keeping the 'mao cha' for almost a year, it has rounded out considerably and now has some good thickness and nice honey, tobacco and flowers fragrance. It delivers a respectable amount of 'sheng jin' and turns sweet nicely in the mouth along with a decent 'hui gan'.

The tea gardens are on a ridge between Duo Yi Zhai, Ban Po Lao Zhai and Shi Tou Zhai at an elevation of a little over 1800 meters.

Unless stated otherwise, all my Puer teas are hand picked, fired and rolled, or sometimes machine rolled. They are sun dried. Cakes are stone pressed.

Please be aware that because raw Puer tea is a 'post-fermented' tea it is in a process of continual change: as it ages, but also from season to season and even day to day, so the description here is a snapshot of the tea's quality and character, which should not differ significantly, but which none-the-less can change.
